OKUMARTS PAPER MINIATURES
Many times people say that they don't find proper miniatures to play Fear of the Dark, but sometimes the answer is easier than we think.
Okumarts games makes high quality paper miniatures with many different characters and ranges (pulp investigators, innsmouth denizens, gangsters...) that fit perfect the Fear of the Dark setting.
This is the link to their website, with links to their different online stores, their patreon, information on all the different ranges they have made and new projects:
And these are a few pictures that show what this paper miniatures may offer to Fear of the Dark players...
It seems that you are running out of excuses to play Fear of the Dark...
And these are some of the ranges they made at Okumarts games, but there are A LOT so I encourage you to visit their website to enjoy watching what they offer:

WE MOVED TO A NEW BLOG
We moved to a new blog.
A new blog where not only Fear of the Dark has a place, but also Frontline Heroes (and all the games that may come in a future). It was very difficult to maintain two blogs at the same time, so I decided to merge all the existing posts in this blog into a new blog.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience this may cause, but it was a necessary improvement.
I hope that we will continue to give life to the wargaming hobby and be able to help as much as possible.

MOVIES INSPIRED IN H.P. LOVECRAFT WORKS
As a Fear of the Dark player I love horror movies...
That feeling when you turn off the light and seat in the couch waiting for the film to begin is something I love...
We love to be scared by horror films, to suffer with the characters as they walk towards death... We like fear itself.
There are a lot of horror movies inspired in H.P. Lovecraft´s works, some of them not clearly, other are obviously based on them. Lovecraft works didn´t go unnoticed to film directors and producers, and many of them have been adaptated or were the basis for films.
Today I want to make a list of the movies I believe that are based on his works or that they deserve to be seen as a Fear of the Dark player or a Call of Cthulhu GM.
The films are not in any particular order, I just offer a selection of films that you may like (related to mythos in one or other way).
So, make sure the doors are locked, turn off the light and sit in the couch...
THE MIST (2007)
RE-ANIMATOR (1985)
A medical student and his girlfriend become involved in a bizarre experiment into reanimating the dead conducted by the student's incorrigible housemate in this campy sendup of an H.P. Lovecraft story. The emphasis is on humour but once the dead walk, there is gore aplenty.
THE CALL OF CTHULHU (2005)
The Call of Cthulhu is a silent movie adaptation of the H. P. Lovecraft short story of the same name, produced by Sean Branney and Andrew Leman and distributed by the HP Lovecraft Historical Society. It is the first film adaptation of the famous Lovecraft story, and uses Mythoscope, a blend of vintage and modern filming techniques intended to produce the look of a 1920s-era film.
The film adheres very closely to Lovecraft's story, but there are a few changes. The sailors aboard the Emma first encounter the Alert abandoned at sea, rather than crewed by Cthulhu cultists as in the original story. Additionally, the film depicts the narrator present at the time of his great-uncle's death, who dies peacefully in his sleep, rather than being summoned upon the mysterious death of his great-uncle, who was presumably killed by Cthulhu cultists in the original short story. The narrator (Matt Foyer) notes as well that Inspector Legrasse, who had directed the raid on cultists in backwoods Louisiana, had died before the narrator's investigation began.
DAGON (2001)
A couple is traveling on a yacht off the coast of Spain, when a sudden storm smashes their boat on a reef. They swim to the nearest town looking for help. The decrepit fishing village of Imboca at first seems to be deserted. The strange inhabitants offer little help to the stranded couple. By nightfall they find themselves pursued by the entire town… but a town of what?
THE ENDLESS (2017)
As kids, they escaped a UFO death cult. Now, two adult brothers seek answers after an old videotape surfaces and brings them back to where they began. Soon they realize that the cult was more than right on their beliefs.
Charles Dexter Ward's wife enlists the help of a private detective to find out what her husband is up to in a remote cabin owned by his family for centuries. The husband is a chemical engineer, and the smells from his experiments (and the delivery of what appear to be human remains at all hours) are beginning to arouse the attention of neighbors and local law enforcement officials. When the detective and wife find a diary of the husband's ancestor from 1771, and reports of gruesome murders in the area begin to surface, they begin to suspect that some very unnatural experiments are being conducted in the old house.
THE VOID (2016)
In the middle of a routine patrol, officer Daniel Carter happens upon a blood-soaked figure limping down a deserted stretch of road. He rushes the young man to a nearby rural hospital staffed by a skeleton crew, only to discover that patients and personnel are transforming into something inhuman. As the horror intensifies, Carter leads the other survivors on a hellish voyage into the subterranean depths of the hospital in a desperate bid to end the nightmare before it's too late.

FREE SCENARIO - LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
A new FREE scenario has been added to FEAR OF THE DARK, it´s called Little Red Riding Hood.
This is the fourth free scenario of the game (apart from the four included in the ruleset), and it won´t be the last...
The idea of Little Red Riding Hood came while reading a bedtime story to my children and the plot may sound familiar:
"Officer, what we know about the case is that a young girl was going through the woods to her grandmother's house carrying a basket with a piece of cake... Next thing we know is that she was found dead as if a beast had slayed her...
It sounds familiar, isn't it, officer?
Well, to make things even more strange as it was raining she was wearing a cape with a hood...
Do you guess which colour was it?
Red... Of course...
So, officer... Are we looking for the Big bad wolf?"
This is the introduction for this scenario, to get it for free just log in your wargamevault profile and look in the Fear of the Dark folder, you may download and enjoy it.
and as always...
THANKS FOR SUPPORTING THIS PROJECT!

WARGAMES ATLANTIC FRENCH RESISTANCE PARTISANS REVIEW
Many times I have been asked about where to find apropiate miniatures to play Fear of the Dark, and last day I picked up a box of French Resistance Partisans made by Wargame Atlantic.
The idea was to make some characters to play Fear of the Dark, and I can't be more happy with the results, that´s why I decided to make this review, because they can easily turned into 20’s investigators.
The box brings 8 sprues with 4 miniatures each, that makes 32 figures, that's more than enough for any skirmish wargame.
As you can see each sprue has 4 bodies and plenty of possibilities, 14 different heads (with hats, caps, bonets ...), 13 right arms and 9 left arms bearing different combinations of weapons (pistols, rifles, submachine guns, light machine guns, grenades...) which means a lot of possible variations for 4 bodies.
The figures are very detailed, and clothes, faces and weapons are really well done, and those details pop up when the miniatures are primed.
Nice, isn't it? this miniatures can work as investigators, citizens, friends and foes from the 20's to 40's for any horror or pulp game (Pulp Alley, Fear of the Dark, Perilous Tales, Strange Aeons...), and... wait a minute... they can also be used as french resistance partisans in any ww2 wargame!!!
Apart from the wide range of possibilities that each sprue has, we can kitbash these miniatures with spare bits from other ranges and miniatures.
I have used spare bits from frostgrave's cultist sprues, warlord's US marines sprues, Project Z survivors, Gripping Beast's arab spearmen... because using other Wargame Atlantic miniatures would have been too easy...
Below you have several examples of kitbashing (most of them with melee weapons as in the sprue we have a lot of ranged weapons) :
Ok, they are nice, but... how do they scale with other ranges of miniatures?
Well, this miniatures are in the "real" side of 28mm, where other brands use heroic proportions with huge heads and arms, this figures tend to be a more realistic representation of a 28mm person, but they look nice side by side with heroic miniatures.
I could tell you how do I think that they scale with other figures, but a picture is worth a thousand words, so I´m going to show comparison pictures with different miniatures from my collection, I´m sure they will be worthy.
Lets talk about the price...
I paid 33€ for a box with 32 highly detailed miniatures. That's 1€ for each miniature. What can I say? They are cheap for what you get, and they are a MUST for every pulp player, just because of the wide range of possibilities that a single box offers.
I hope this review has been worthy and helps you to decide whether to buy it or not.
